Tripura Becomes India's Third Fully Literate State After Mizoram and Goa

On June 23, Tripura became the third state in India to achieve full literacy. With this achievement, it joins Mizoram and Goa as the only states in the country to reach this milestone. The announcement was made at an event held at Rabindra Bhavan, in the presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha. During his speech, Saha described this achievement as a historic and proud moment for Tripura. He said, "After Mizoram and Goa, Tripura is now India’s third fully literate state."

Saha emphasized that literacy is an essential component in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "developed India" by 2047. He encouraged those who have overcome illiteracy to continue learning and upgrading their skills for the country's benefit.

Preeti Meena, Director of the Ministry of Education's Adult Literacy Department, praised the state's efforts. She stated, "Today, Tripura has become a fully literate state. The central government has set a target to make India fully literate by 2030. In Tripura, we identified 23,184 illiterate adults and helped them achieve this goal." She urged the state government to continue focusing on the education of those who have become fully literate, encourage them to keep reading and writing, and also emphasize skill development and digital education.

Raval H. Kumar, Special Secretary of the Education Department of Tripura, thanked the central government for its cooperation.
