नदियों को जोड़ने की अहम परियोजना केन-बेतवा लिंक पर अगले साल की शुरुआत में काम तेज हो सकता है। 27 नवंबर को मिली जानकारी के मुताबिक शुरुआती अनुमति के लगभग छह साल बाद महत्वपूर्ण वन मंजूरी के बाद इसके आसार बढ़ गए हैं कि सिंचाई और पेयजल के इस बड़े कार्यक्रम को आखिरकार गति मिल जाएगी। यह प्रोजेक्ट 44 हजार करोड़ रुपये से अधिक का है और नदियों को जोड़ने के वर्षों पुराने सपने को साकार करने की पहली बड़ी कड़ी भी है।

पर्यावरण मंत्रालय ने प्रोजेक्ट को दी मंजूरी जल शक्ति मंत्रालय के सूत्रों के अनुसार, अब कोई बड़ी अड़चन नहीं है। पर्यावरण मंत्रालय की अंतिम मंजूरी के बाद इस प्रोजेक्ट पर पूरी ताकत से काम होने का रास्ता साफ हो जाएगा। वन्य जीव से संबंधित मंजूरी का मामला सुप्रीम कोर्ट में भी है।

मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने दिखाई सक्रियता मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने पिछले कुछ महीनों में इस प्रोजेक्ट को लेकर काफी सक्रियता दिखाई है। यह परियोजना 10.6 लाख हेक्टेयर भूमि के लिए सिंचाई का साधन उपलब्ध कराने के साथ ही 60 लाख से अधिक लोगों को पेयजल की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराएगी। मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने वन क्षेत्र को होने वाले नुकसान की भरपाई के लिए जमीन जुटाने के काम में काफी हद तक सफलता हासिल कर ली है।
