विश्व आर्थिक मंच की पांच दिवसीय 54वीं वार्षिक बैठक 15 जनवरी से यहां शुरू हो रही है। बैठक के लिए दुनियाभर के 2800 से अधिक नेता यहां पहुंच रहे हैं। इनमें 60 से अधिक राष्ट्र एवं सरकारों के प्रमुख शामिल हैं। बैठक में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व तीन केंद्रीय मंत्री स्मृति इरानी अश्विनी वैष्णव और हरदीप सिंह पुरी करेंगे।उनके साथ तीन राज्यों के मुख्यमंत्री और सौ से ज्यादा सीईओ भी मौजूद रहेंगे।

एक ऑनलाइन प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में डब्ल्यूईएफ के प्रेसिडेंट बार्ज ब्रेंडे ने कहा कि यह बैठक बेहद जटिल और सर्वाधिक चुनौतीपूर्ण भू-राजनीतिक व भू-आर्थिक परिदृश्य में हो रही है। इस दौरान ब्रेंडे ने भारत को आठ प्रतिशत से अधिक जीडीपी वाला प्रमुख देश करार दिया। इस वर्ष की बैठक की थीम है- रीबिल्डिंग ट्रस्ट।
