The word
' Mathematics ' is derived from a Greek
word , which means ' inclination towards study ' . Although it is
very difficult to give a universally accepted definition of Mathematics , it can be broadly
defined as the expression , quantity , their relation , operation and
measurement by numbers and symbols. If we say in simple colloquial language, mathematics
is related to the study of numbers and their various calculations. Careful
analysis and reasoning are very important skills of mathematics. It is worth
noting that mathematics is as old as our civilization. Mathematics is a very
useful and fascinating branch of human knowledge. It includes many subjects of
study. It is worth noting that mathematics is a recognized professional career
and is a major subject chosen as a career by students in India. There has been
a strong tradition of mathematics in India since ancient times and for this
reason various centers of study have been established here in mathematics and
related sciences. Even today there are many institutions in India doing
world-class research in mathematics. A large number of students interested in
calculations choose mathematics as a career. After completing a course in
mathematics and related fields, bright employment opportunities are available.
It is worth noting that every person uses mathematics at
every step in his life. Mathematics is an essential part of almost all
scientific studies. Scientists use mathematics to design experiments , analyze information
, express their conclusions in a proper form through
mathematical principles and make accurate predictions based on these
conclusions. Subjects like astronomy , chemistry and physics
depend on mathematics. Social science , economics , psychology,
statistics etc. also depend on many other branches of mathematics. Economics Mathematics is used
extensively to create mathematical models of economic systems. Mathematicians
use mathematical theory , computational techniques ,
algorithms and the latest mathematical technology to solve economic , scientific , engineering , physics and
business problems.
