Agneepath Army Recruitment Rally in Gwalior: 1800 Vacancies Expected
Great news for the youth of the Gwalior-Chambal region aspiring to become Agniveers in the Indian Army. This year, the Army plans to expand the recruitment drive. Under the goal of filling nearly 100,000 vacancies nationwide, the 2026 recruitment process could see nearly 1,800 vacancies allocated for the Chambal region, almost double the 832 vacancies in 2024.
The recruitment process is expected to begin in February, and the official notification may be released within a week. Unlike previous years when rallies were held in Shivpuri or Sagar, this time the Army is considering holding the rally in Gwalior. Officials will discuss the matter at the government level.
Last year, the rally had to be shifted from Shivpuri because the Gwalior administration did not provide timely approval. Army data shows a strong interest in the military among the youth of Gwalior-Chambal. In the 2025-26 recruitment cycle, a total of 1,716 youth were selected, of which 1,143 were from Bhind, Morena, and Gwalior districts, while only 573 were selected from the remaining seven districts.
The Army believes that holding the rally in Gwalior would significantly increase registration and participation of eligible youth. Collector Ruchika Chauhan stated that upon receiving the proposal, it would be sent to the government for further action. Notifications for 2026-27 are expected this month. With more vacancies available this year, efforts are being made to hold the rally in Gwalior so that maximum youth get an opportunity. - Colonel Pankaj Kumar, Director, Army Recruitment Office
